Through planning and promoting events that are open to everyone, the Evangelism Committee welcomes all our neighbors and introduces them to Jesus and our congregation. The committee also helps create promotional materials to spread the word about Our Saviour and the Lutheran faith tradition. Through meals and gatherings we welcome newcomers to our community and nurture relationships with each other.

A few examples of how we do this include:

  • The Evangelism Committee brought the community together on the Feast of St. Francis in October to Bless the Animals. Special guests from the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Division came and received our financial offering in 2017.
  • In past years we have had a float in the Warrenton Christmas Parade, getting our name out into the community and helping all connect with Jesus, God’s Greatest Gift.
  • Sunday isn’t complete without a cup of coffee, a smile and a strong handshake. Join us each week from 9:15-10:30 am to meet and greet!

Why We Do It

We share the love of Jesus with the community around our congregation, hoping to help people develop a personal and communal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and his church. We also seek to help build up the congregation’s relationships with God and with each other.

About the Committee

We are the hosts, welcoming one and all! We do this both behind the scenes and at the front door. Join us! You could help host fellowship or serve as a greeter. You could bring creative ideas to the committee meetings. Or you could learn how to share your faith with others to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

The committee meets once a month and helps with events throughout the year. Current members include:

  • Krista Coyner
  • Don Simmons
  • Jan Hanks
  • Donna Bartkiewicz
  • Elaine Noble
  • Sandy Benfit
  • Jerry Hoke
  • Pastor Terri Church

How to Join

We’d love to have new participants! Call or email the church office to be connected to a member of the committee.

“I remember our first visit on a Saturday night. It was Valentine’s Day, and so many people came over and greeted us. The greeters welcomed us at the door, giving us a service bulletin and helping us know where to go. Then Brad came down from Voices of Praise to welcome us, followed by Pastor Michael. We heard the message of grace and love through Jesus in the music, Bible readings, and the sermon. When the pastor visited us at home, we were hooked! And that’s why I serve on the committee—to help others have that same experience of God’s overwhelming love right up front.”
