Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Burning of Ashes
March 5 at 6:00 pm
Shrove Tuesday is a traditional feast day before the 40 days of Lenten fasting leading up to Easter. The Evangelism committee, along with the Men’s group, will prepare pancakes, bacon, sausage and fruit to serve in the fellowship hall. The middle and high-school youth will again serve as our waiters for the dinner. Then join us outside the front door of the church for a brief service and our annual burning of the palms to create the ashes for Ash Wednesday.
Ash Wednesday Services for Imposition of Ashes
March 6 at Noon and 7:00 pm
Lent begins with the solemn Ash Wednesday services of confession. This year, the noon service will be followed by a light lunch of soup, to which the entire community is invited.
For tickets to this free lunch, call the office at 540-347-3224.
If you would like to help in some way with the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, the Ash Wednesday Lunch, or worship, please contact the office at 540-347-3224.
Both services will include confession, the imposition of ashes and music. Ash Wednesday offerings will be donated to ELCA World Hunger.
