Confirmands Just Gotta Have Fun!
An overnight retreat is planned for all members of the 2022-24 confirmation classes on Friday, September 9. We will gather at 7:00 pm Friday and be ready to go home at 8:00 am on Saturday. Participants will have lots of time for playful activities, take some time for devotions and discussion, and will get some sleep, of course.
To sign up, click the green “Register” box at the top of this post or click here.
Click Here to download the Permission and Medical Form.
This form must be completed by all participants. A Parent/Guardian signature is required, and a responsible adult must enter the building with the participants to be sure we have all necessary forms and emergency information.
If you have questions, contact Betsy Wilco through the church office.
Dear Parents and Confirmands,
Our Confirmation Overnight Retreat is quickly approaching, and we can’t wait to see you there! Lots of fun and interesting things are being planned for us to do throughout the night. Below is the specific information you need in order to enjoy the night.
Required
Permission and release form. You need to have this form signed by a parent or guardian and submitted before or at drop-off on Friday.
OSLC has agreed to follow Covid-19 protocols for everyone’s safety. You must wear a mask if you are experiencing any Covid symptoms, and ideally have a negative test result, as you would when deciding to attend any other group event.
What to Pack
You will need something to make yourself comfortable in order to sleep — at least for a few hours! You may decide what that will be but a thin camping mattress (less than three inches tall) or yoga mat, a blanket or sleeping bag, and a pillow are suggested. We have a couple of extra mats to bring.
Enough of your favorite snack to share with the group.
Any personal items you need to be comfortable, toothbrush, favorite stuffy, whatever that is. No need to pack for a three-week cruise, though! Your backpack should hold it all! Appropriate clothing will be worn for sleeping.
What to Expect
Fun! There will be a variety of games to play; some very active, some quieter, some in the dark. There will be some devotional time and some “hanging out” time.
There will be some time that your phones can take a cozy nap for a while. 😉
Without a doubt, some messes will be made. The quilting group will need to use some of the same areas of the church at 9:00 am on Saturday, and Sunday School will be meeting in others this weekend. We will ALL make sure that we leave the space the way we found it or better! If everyone helps, it will only take a few minutes, and everyone will be able to use the building the way we need to.
What to Do
Arrive at 7:00 pm Friday and check in. As your plans are solidified this week, it would help in planning if you were to let us know whether you are coming, If your child needs to arrive later than 7:00 pm on Friday, please contact us ahead of time so that we know to watch for you.
Have fun! Participate, be yourself, and trust others to do the same. Share your thoughts and ideas. These are your friends in Christ, and even though we are all different, you have many things in common you don’t even know about yet!
Be packed and ready for parent pick-up at 8:00am. Don’t worry! We will wake you up in time!
Leaders
Your adult leaders will be Betsy Wilco, Shannon Scott and … (TBA)
