Music is an extremely important part of worship at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. There is music at every service.
Organist
Bettie Shiflett was once asked to “fill in” as Our Saviour’s organist until a permanent musician could be found. Mrs. Shiflett has been “filling in” for more than 45 years and shows no sign of stopping.
Choir
The choir sings traditional hymns on Sunday mornings.
Dean Kolb directs Our Saviour’s choir. An accomplished vocalist himself, he is also a skilled and patient teacher – not to mention husband, father and Scout leader. Mr. Kolb is particularly keen to welcome new members to the choir.
If you’re interested in joining the choir, talk to Dean, or contact the church office to be put in touch with Dean by phone or email.
Voices of Praise (Saturday)
Contemporary music during the Saturday service is led by Voices of Praise musicians and singers.
Brian Stevenson is the leader of Voices of Praise, Our Saviour’s contemporary music ensemble. A graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, Brian has previously served as a parish youth minister. An accomplished musician, he plays (by last count) some 28 different instruments.
Handbell Choir (Sunday)
OSLC has a wonderful tradition of enhancing worship with Handbell music. The Handbell Choir is open to anyone middle school age through adult. New ringers are always welcome. Knowing how to read music is helpful. Practices are casual and fun and are every Monday night from 7:00 to 8:00 pm from September through May. Commitment can be flexible. Typically musical offerings are played during Sunday services every 4-6 weeks. Music choices are usually simple and familiar. To learn more, please contact the church office to be put in touch with Susan Kiser, the Handbell Choir Director.
