Social Ministry

Social Ministry

Our Saviour is not a big church, but it makes a big impact on the community. Called by Christ to care for our neighbors, our mission is to reach out in faith and love to help.
Our Social Ministry Committee organizes monthly activities, often in support of community organizations like People Helping People, Emergency Shelter in Warrenton, Warrenton Manor, and Vint Hill Transitional Housing.
In addition, we have a group of ongoing ministries:

OSLC’s On-site Food and Personal Care Pantry

  • Members contribute food and personal care items regularly’
  • These items are given to those in need, with no questions asked.
  • We carry personal care products such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, as well as cleaning products such as dish soap, laundry detergent, and disinfectant.

People Helping People

  • This organization helps those citizens of Fauquier County who are in immediate need of assistance to pay utility bills and rent.
  • It operates solely on funds donated by private citizens and local churches.
  • The staff is all volunteer. Our Saviour members help staff the office. Open M-Th, 9am-12noon.

Lutheran World Relief quilt ministry

  • Work from home and/or socialize as we work as a group at our meetings on the second Saturday of each month from January-September.
  • Quilts are sent to LWR where they are shipped to countries around the world to provide comfort to those in need.
  • More information can be found here.

Lutheran World Relief Kits

  • Members contribute items for personal care kits.
  • Items are organized into kits, packed, and shipped to Lutheran World Relief.
  • LWR ships them all over the world to places where people are in need of basic cleanliness items.

Vint Hill Transitional Housing

  • Members contribute various household items as we are aware of need for them.
  • Members of OSLC host occasional activities for families who reside there.

Emergency Shelter in Warrenton

  • We provide dinners to the residents of the shelter when needed.
  • Our members contribute household items that are needed regularly at the shelter.
  • Monthly, we deliver pizza donated by Wegmans to the shelter.

Warrenton Manor

  • Our Echo Group frequently holds events for the residents of Warrenton Manor on site, including a monthly luncheon with seasonal activities.
  • More information here.

Christmas Shoeboxes for Children

  • Our members purchase items to fill boxes with small gifts for children living in local shelters at Christmas time.

Mental Health

  • Members of OSLC are encouraged to participate in Mental Health First Aid training through Mental Health Association of Fauquier County. This equips us to help support one another and those in our community during difficult times.
