Our Saviour is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), one of the largest Christian denominations in the United States, with about 4 million members in nearly 10,000 congregations across the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is a leader in foreign missions, youth ministry and ecumenical relations. (To learn more, visit the ELCA website here.)
Within the ELCA, Our Saviour is a part of the Germanna Conference of the Virginia Synod. These bodies connect us with other churches to partner in ministry, service, and study. The Virginia Synod has a long history of strong educational ministries among youth and adults, helping everyone deepen their faith. When our congregation has a need, the Synod is the first place we go for support. (To learn more, visit the Virginia Synod website here.
Through the ELCA, Our Saviour is also connected to the Lutheran World Federation, the principal international voice of the Lutheran spiritual movement. The LWF is a global communion of 145 church bodies in the Lutheran tradition, representing over 74 million Christians in 98 countries. (To learn more, visit the LWF website here.)
Lutherans come together to help the world in need through two primary organizations: Lutheran Disaster Response and Lutheran World Relief.
