Our Saviour is hosting Youth Mental Health First Aid training on February 1, 2025. We would love to have you join us. Bring a friend, too!
We are living through a time of high stress, confusion, and social media influence unlike any before. This is especially difficult for our pre-teens, teens, and young adults. Be ready to be present and prepared when someone needs you. Fauquier Mental Health is providing instructors on a Saturday, and right here at OSLC in order to be accessible to more people. We are excited to have them.
9:00am-3:30pm on Saturday, February 1.
There is no cost, but we ask that you please pre-register so that we know how many to prepare for. (There is also some short reading and listening to do prior to the training day.)

From Fauquier Mental Health:
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people.
The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD), and eating disorders.
The Mental Health Association of Fauquier County is pleased to offer this training at no cost to members of your organization. This training can be completed in one 6-hour in-person session, with 2 hours of online pre-work.
