EASTER IS NOT JUST A DAY.
It is a season. The Fifty Days include seven Sundays, each with its own quaint name (“Like Newborn Babes” is the first). It remembers the forty days that Jesus spent on earth after his Resurrection, and then ten more until the coming of the Spirit at Pentecost.
Notice that Easter is ten days longer than Lent. This is a reminder that fasting, like other human observances, will pass away, but the Feast of the Lamb will last forever.
